Do you provide changing rooms and cubbies?

Yes, we offer separate changing/storage for men and women, free of charge. Mission Beach Pilates is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

What should I wear to Pilates?

When it comes to workout clothes, comfort is far more important than fashion. Rather than purchasing clothes that look good, you should purchase clothes that feel good. When trying on workout wear, it is important that you bend and stretch or jog-in-place to make sure your clothes fit well. If you purchase ill-fitting clothes, you may find yourself adjusting your garments throughout your workout. At Mission Beach Pilates, we recommend that you consider the following when purchasing workout gear:

  • Fabric: Wear fabrics that allow your skin to breathe. Wicking material, such as a polyester blend, won’t trap in moisture and will allow your skin to breathe, keeping you cool during your workout.
  • Footwear Shoes are not permitted on the reformers. Grippy socks are preferred. These are available for purchase in the studio. Regular socks or bare feet are permissible if grippy socks are not available.'
  • Bra: When it comes to high-impact exercise, it is critical that you wear supportive bra. A good sports bra will prevent breast, back, and neck pain as well as the breakdown of ligaments.

The right workout wear will make a tremendous difference in your overall gym experience. We are more than happy to provide you with recommendations on athletic clothing brands or point you in the direction of a nearby sporting goods store. Please do not hesitate to ask!

Is it better to stretch before or after I exercise?

You should stretch before and after you work out. Light stretching before exercise can prevent injuries from occurring and stretching post-exercise can help to reduce muscle tension and increase flexibility.

I’ve never taken a Pilates class, what should I know?

If you are a beginner, here are some important things you should keep in mind:

Etiquette:

  • lease arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the class. This will allow you enough time to find your place on the floor.
  • If this is your first class, we recommend that you tell the instructor so the instructor can place you in the right area of the room so you can learn from others in the class.
  • We ask that you please wipe the reformer down so others can enjoy a clean reformer after your use.
  • Please turn off your phone and store it in your cubby

Important to know:

  • You will be doing a lot of different exercises, so it is best to avoid loose fitting clothing.
  • Eat a light, healthy meal 2 hours before the class and drink plenty of water. Feel free to bring a water bottle to the class and drink as much as you need to during your practice.

Keep in mind:

  • There are hundreds of different poses, some of which are more difficult than others. Don’t feel discouraged or worry about looking silly. Grow and practice at your own pace!

How do I redeem my Groupon Voucher?

In order to reserve your first class please follow the steps below:

  • 1 – Create an account with a username & password at MISSION BEACH STUDIOS by clicking on the SCHEDULE link on the top right of our homepage. Create a username, password and account with us. At this point you cannot yet register for classes until the next step is completed and you have received a confirmation email.
  • 2 – Please email us your name and a copy of your voucher to: info@missionbeachpilates.com We will email you a receipt confirming that your account is ready and you can now schedule yourself for the appropriated classes. Please allow up to 2 business days for your voucher to be activated. Plan accordingly.
  • 3 – Please bring in a printed copy of your Groupon voucher or present it on a smart phone.

Must have a Voucher Groupon # to redeem your classes.

There is no refunds, transfer, or exchanges for any reason.

We love our Groupon Clients! Please review our policies and procedures for your Groupon voucher.

  • • Groupon class offers must be scheduled out at the time of activation.
  • • You cannot purchase multiple Groupons at the same time.
  • • Once activated we cannot extend the Groupon past expiration. Please do not activate the offer unless you can adhere to this commitment.
  • • Once activated we cannot refund the amount of the Groupon offer. We can however, apply the face value to our reformer class packages offered here in the studio.
  • • You may not combine studio offers specials with Groupon offers.

Must have Groupon Voucher Number to activate your offer. If you do not have your number at the time of your class you need to purchase the class at at the drop-in rate of $25. Cannot be combined with any other offers.

Promotional value expires 90 days after purchase with Groupon. Amount paid never expires. However you can apply the amount to other products and services.
